CLEMSON, SC…Suzette Sharpe, a past president of the Lexington Technology Center FFA Chapter, was named the Mid-state Regional Star in Agricultural Placement for 2009 by the SC FFA Association at a recent ceremony on the Clemson University campus.
Suzette has been employed at The Farmer’s Shed in Lexington while in high school. Her responsibilities include propagation of plants, pruning, deadheading, irrigating and fertilizer application. Additionally, she is responsible for making combination pots which allows her to be creative and unique while using her knowledge about plants such as light and water requirements and which plants are suitable to plant together.
More recently, Suzette has also been employed by the Walter P. Rawl and Sons Farms where she assists with the daily operations and fresh vegetable production.
An active member of the Lexington FFA Chapter, Suzette was a member of the state champion Floriculture and Wildlife Management teams. She was also state winner in the FFA Creed Speaking and Prepared Speaking competitions and participated in the national finals at the National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Suzette’s FFA advisor is Tommy Harmon, Agricultural Education instructor at the Technology center.
