WILLIAMS PRESIDES AT CLEMSON AGRICULTURAL
EDUCATORS CONFERENCECLEMSON, SC….Allen Williams, a faculty member at Wagener-Salley High School and the 2008-09 president of the SC Agricultural Educators Association, presided over the organization’s recent successful annual state conference held at Clemson University.
The conference program was designed to provide agricultural educators an opportunity to participate in numerous professional and technical seminars to improve their programs to meet the challenges of agribusiness in the 21 st century.
Among the subjects discussed included the Bio-System Technology curriculum developed at Clemson University for high school agricultural education programs and a new Curriculum Support tool recently developed for SC Agricultural Educators to use an integrated online system to plan, document, deliver and assess their instruction. This new teaching tool has over 1000 ready-to use lesson plans and power-point presentations organized by topic and aligned with the SC Agricultural Education standards.
A highlight of the conference was the banquet where agricultural educators and supporters were recognized. Awards presented included the Outstanding Teacher, the Outstanding Young Teacher, the Outstanding Program, the Outstanding Adult Program, the Teacher Mentor of the Year and Agricultural Leadership.
During the conference, Mr. Williams appeared on the SC ETV Radio Network YOUR DAY talk Show to discuss the importance of Agricultural Education and the Agribusiness industry in our state and nation.
