CLEMSON UNIVERSITY TO HOST STATE FFA CONVENTIONCLEMSON, SC…Hundreds of FFA members from throughout South Carolina will convene at Clemson University, June 9-11, for their annual state convention, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.
National FFA Vice President Randa Braune of Bellville, Texas, a junior at Texas A & M University majoring in Agriculture Science, will give the keynote address at the convention and conduct a leadership workshop.
Other highlights of the convention include recognition of Outstanding FFA Chapters; presenting the State FFA Stars in Farming, Agribusiness and Agricultural Placement; awarding college scholarships; conducting state finals in a number of career development events; introducing recipients of the coveted State FFA Degree and the Honorary State Degree; and election of the state officer team for 2010-11.
State FFA President Kerry Lee Cox of Latta along with State Secretary Anna Kate Waters of Anderson and State Vice Presidents Kelsey Bridges of Clover, Emmanuel Bankston of Beaufort, Lena Freeman of Union and Gordon Best of Loris will preside over the three-day Agricultural Education event.
“The South Carolina FFA Association is affiliated with the 520,000 member National FFA Organization with more than 7200 chapters in secondary schools, technical colleges and universities located in all fifty states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands,” Mr. Parris said.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
