SC FFA AssociationThe fifteenth annual observance of the SC FFA-sponsored State Legislators Appreciation Day will be held in Columbia, SC, February 24, 2010. The activities will begin with a breakfast session for the National FFA officer, the state FFA officer team, the Clemson University Collegiate FFA officers, the Clemson University Agricultural Education faculty and administrative staff, and SC FFA Association staff at the Capital City Club in downtown Columbia, SC.
FFA members and advisors will begin visitation with state legislators in their respected offices at 8:30 AM followed by the introduction of FFA members to members of the General Assembly while in session. The Appreciation Ceremony held on the north steps of the State Capitol will get underway promptly at 11:00 AM with brief presentations by key legislators and other government officials.
An FFA-State Legislators Appreciation Luncheon will be held at 12:30 PM in the Moore Building on the State Fair Grounds and will be catered by Shealy’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant headquartered in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. The cost per ticket is $10. Pre-register and order luncheon tickets from Ms. Brenda Baldwin, Administrative Assistant, State Office of Agricultural Education... bbaldwi@clemson.edu by Wednesday, February 19, 2010. Local chapters are responsible for luncheon tickets for members of the General Assembly. A highlight of the Luncheon program, in addition to the food, will be the presentation of a Toyota Tundra truck to Jeremy Brooks, Agricultural Education instructor at Midland Valley High School in Graniteville.
I expect to receive authorization for FFA vehicles to use the orange bagged parking meters adjacent the State Capitol and will confirm this in a few days.
FFA advisors and members are encouraged to attend and participate in the visitation with legislators, the Legislators Appreciation Ceremony and the FFA-Legislator Recognition Luncheon.
