COLUMBIA, SC….Frank R. Stover, Jr., Agricultural Education Instructor at Pelion High School, was recently presented the prestigious State Conservation Honor Award by the SC Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society. The award was presented at the Pelion FFA Awards and Recognition Banquet Program by Hugh Caldwell of Lexington, an official with the Society.
In making the presentation, Mr. Caldwell said, “Mr. Stover was selected for the award because of his outstanding success in conservation education at the high school level and encouraging so many young people to pursue careers in natural resources and environmental science.
The Soil and Water Conservation Society of America is a non-profit scientific and educational organization that serves as an advocate for conservation professionals and science-based conservation practices, programs and policies.
Mr. Stover was nominated for the award by John W. Parris, retired executive director of the SC Land Resources Commission and a past president of the Society, who currently serves as the state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education in South Carolina.
