COPELAN AWARDED AMERICAN FFA DEGREE

Jared L. Copelan of Anderson, SC, a student at Spartanburg Community College majoring in Horticulture, was recently awarded the American FFA Degree by the 523,000 member National FFA Organization at its annual convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, according to John W. Parris, spokesperson for the SC FFA Association.

“The American FFA Degree is the highest and most prestigious award available to an FFA member at the national level and is presented to a select number of outstanding members from throughout the nation,” Mr. Parris said. “The awards ceremony was reported live nationwide by the RFD-TV Satellite Network which reaches more than 40 million homes in America,” he added.

A 2007 graduate of Westside High School in Anderson, SC, Jared was an active member of the Anderson FFA Chapter. He will graduate from Spartanburg Community College in May 2011 with a degree in Horticulture and a minor in Turf Management.

The son of Jay and Kelly Copelan, Jared’s high school FFA advisors were his dad, Jay Copelan, and Ashley Granata, agricultural education instructors at the Anderson School District Five Career Center.
