ANDERSON FFA CHAPTER TO RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARD

COLUMBIA, SC…The Anderson FFA Chapter will receive the National FFA Three Star Award at a recognition banquet held during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 20-23, 2010, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association. “The National Three Star Award is the highest level of recognition presented to a select few FFA chapters by the 520,000 member National FFA Organization,” Mr. Parris said.

The National FFA Chapter Awards Program, co-sponsored by Ford Motor Company and John Deere as a special project of the National FFA Foundation, recognizes outstanding FFA chapters that implement a Program of Activities designed to provide members an opportunity to excel in individual, organization or community development experiences.

The Anderson Chapter received the State Gold Emblem Award during the recent state FFA convention at Clemson University.

Jay Copelan and Ashley Granata, Agricultural Educators at Anderson School District Five’s Hanna-Westside campus in downtown Anderson, serve as the FFA advisors.

“This prestigious award is a notable laurel to come to Anderson FFA members, their advisors and Anderson School District Five,” Mr. Parris said. “This award speaks volumes about the quality of leadership and instructional ability of Mr. Copelan and Miss Granata,” he added.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
