BELTON-HONEA PATH FFA HAS RECORD NUMBER
OF PROFICIENCY WINNERS

COLUMBIA, SC…The Belton-Honea Path FFA Chapter had six State Proficiency Award winners in 2010, the largest number of any chapter in South Carolina, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

FFA member Dixie Driver took top honors in the Small Animal Production and Care category. Taylor Gambill was the state winner in Agricultural Sales. Amber Mullinax was the Agricultural Mechanics winner. Anna Burdette took first place in Diversified Livestock Production. Lynette Norris was the state winner in Forage Production and Anna Miller took first place in Agricultural Education.

Each of the winners received a cash award from the National FFA Foundation and are in competition for national honors to be announced at the National FFA Convention in October.

“Six State Proficiency Award winners from one chapter in the same year may well be an overall state record since the beginning of Proficiency Awards program,” Mr. Parris said.

Glenn Stevens, Agricultural Education instructor at Belton-Honea Path High School, is the FFA advisor.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
