BLYTHEWOOD FFA MEMBERS TO ASSIST IN DEVELOPING
TOWN PARK NATURE TRAILS

BLYTHEWOOD, SC… .Blythewood High School FFA members and Agri-science instructor Tom Willingham will design and install environmental education nature trails as part of the development of the new Blythewood town park which connects to the school property.

Ground-breaking ceremonies for the new park were held Friday, July 30, 2010, adjacent the town administrative building.

Special guests in attendance included Mayor Keith Bailey; John Perry, town administrator; WIS-TV personality Joe Pinner who served as master of ceremonies; Henry Hunter, director of Annexation and Community Relations for Blythewood; Wendy Rich Broderick, Financial Development and Marketing ACHIEVE Coach, Columbia YMCA; Kenny Mullis, Richland County Conservation District Commissioner; Tom Willingham, Blythewood High School Agri-science instructor and FFA advisor; and John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization..

Large display boards erected near the administrative building outlined planned features of the park including the trails, amphitheatre and other amenities. Those in attendance were given an opportunity to observe the display boards following the ground-braking ceremony.

Patriotic music was provided before and during the ceremony by the Fort Jackson 282 nd Army Band Brass Quintet.

Blythewood High School entrance is adjacent a beautiful lake which adds to the aesthetics of the property.
