STATE FFA OFFICER DOBBINS JOINS TENENBAUM FOR STATE FAIR TOUR

State FFA Secretary Troy Dobbins, a senior at Pendleton High School, accompanied Mrs. Inez Tenenbaum, Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in Washington, DC and former State Superintendent of Education in South Carolina, on a two hour tour of the Agricultural-related segments at the South Carolina State Fair on Friday, October 15. He was joined by John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization, who coordinated arrangements for a select group of FFA members to welcome Mrs. Tenenbaum to the fair.

The FFA members were also joined by Dr. Laurie C. Lawson, state executive director, USDA Farm Service Agency, Columbia, SC, Mack Eubanks, an official with the USDA agency, and members of the Farm Service Agency State Committee.

Gary Goodman, general manager of the State Fair, and Nancy Smith, associate general manager, welcomed the group to the fair and led them on a tour of the various agri-related buildings and other sites on the grounds.

Mrs. Tenenbaum addressed the participants in the Junior Dairy Heifer Sale at the State Fair during her visit to the livestock arena. She was introduced by Dr. Tom Dobbins, Program Coordinator of Agricultural Education at Clemson University and Superintendent of the State Fair Livestock Department.

A reporter with WLTX-TV accompanied the group for more than hour and interviewed Mrs. Tenenbaum and Dobbins for newscasts throughout the day.
