LAURENS FFA EQUINE TEAM IN STATE FINALS
COLUMBIA, SC….Laurens District 55 High School FFA Equine team members Kitty McClellion, Cassandra Calvo, Emily McDowell and Shane Foster took Runner-up honors in the state finals held recently at Lander University’s Equine Center near Greenwood, SC, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. Emily McDowell was the third high scorer in the competition. The students were coached by Melanie Birchmore, agricultural education instructor at the high school.
“Equine evaluation is among the most challenging of the career development events conducted by the SC FFA organization and one of the most popular of the agri-science competitions held at the state and national level,” Mr. Parris said.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
