COLUMBIA, SC….Woodmont High School FFA Equine Team members Jordan Bryson, Maddie Styles, Samantha Cason and Paige Burdette took first place honors in the recent state finals held at Lander University’s Equine Center near Greenwood, SC, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. Samantha Cason was the high individual scorer and Jordan Bryson was the second high scorer in the competition.
The students and coach Matt Rollins, agricultural education instructor at Woodmont High School, were awarded expense-paid trips by the SC FFA Foundation to attend the 2011 National FFA Convention to compete in the National Equine finals.
“Equine evaluation is among the most challenging of the career development events conducted by the SC FFA organization,” Mr. Parris said. “It is also one of the most popular of the agri-science competitions held at the state and national level.”
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
