NATIONAL FARM-CITY WEEK IS NOVEMBER 19-25
National Farm-City Week will be observed November 19-25, 2010, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. “The annual observance begins the Friday before Thanksgiving and ends on Thanksgiving Day,” he said.
The observance will be launched this year with a National Symposium entitled “Agriculture: A Growing Story” on Thursday, November 18, sponsored by the National Farm-City Council at the Lancaster Host Resort in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. For more information on this conference visit contact@farmcity.org .
National Farm-City Week, recognized by a White House proclamation and organized by the National Farm-City Council, is designed to celebrate the unique partnership between the agriculture community and urban residents in providing the nation with a bounty of food, fiber, fuel and other products. The Council provides local organizations with educational information about agriculture and the people involved.
“This special observance provides an excellent opportunity for FFA chapters to plan and conduct educational events designed to inform other students, teachers, school administrators and the general public that Agri-business is the number one industry in South Carolina and the nation with more than 300 career opportunities available to those who are educationally qualified,” Parris said.
