MANNING FFA CHAPTER TAKES TOP STATE HONORS

COLUMBIA, SC….The Manning High School FFA Chapter took top honors in the State FFA Recognition Program by receiving the Governor’s Citation of Accomplishment in Community Development. The chapter was also recognized with the prestigious Gold Emblem Award. The announcement was made during a special ceremony at the recent state FFA Convention held on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA association.

The Citation was presented by Larry Rogers, an official representing the USDA Farm Service Agency who sponsors the state and national FFA chapter awards and recognition program. Additionally, Wesley Harris, executive director of the Rural Rehabilitation Development Corporation, presented the chapter a check for $1000 to defray expenses for an officer and the FFA advisor to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year. The Citation and check were received by FFA Advisor Michael Haynes and FFA President Maya Haynes.

“A special program will be held at Manning High School in the fall to recognize the FFA members and advisor for bringing this well deserved state and national recognition to the school, the community and Clarendon County”, Mr. Parris said.
