YON NAMED REGIONAL STAR FARMER
CLEMSON, SC….Drake Yon, a 2010 graduate of Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, was named the Lower State Region FFA Star Farmer during the recent state FFA convention at Clemson University, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
The presentation of the prestigious award was made by Ronnie Summers, an official with AgSouth Farm Credit, on behalf of the SC Cooperative Council which sponsors the recognition program in concert with the SC FFA Association.
Drake, the son of Kevin and Lydia Yon of Ridge Spring, is a freshman at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Economics. His FFA advisor is Michael Crim, Agricultural Education instructor at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School.
“The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education,” Mr. Parris said.
