COLUMBIA, SC….Lauren McGill of Clover, SC was named the 2010 State Star Farmer by the SC FFA Association during the recent state FFA convention held at Clemson University.
The presentation of the prestigious award, including a $1500 college scholarship, was made by Ronnie Summers, an official with AgSouth Farm Credit, on behalf of the SC Cooperative Council who sponsors the award in concert with the state FFA organization.
Lauren was recognized for her successful management of the cattle herd owned by North American Landscape Company. She was also cited for her ownership of 75 percent of the family farm, Circle M Farm, near Clover.
A 2010 graduate of Clover High School where she served as an FFA officer, Lauren will enroll at York Technical College this fall with plans to eventually transfer to a four-year college. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Tammy McGill of Clover. Carrie C. Bolin, Agricultural Education instructor at Clover High School, is Lauren’s FFA advisor.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
