CLEMSON, SC…Sadie Lyon, a rising sophomore and FFA member at Clinton High School, took first place honors in the State FFA Creed Speaking competition held during the recent State FFA Conference at Clemson University. Participation in his career development event is limited to first year agricultural education students who are members of the FFA.
Sadie, vice president of the local FFA chapter, was awarded an expense-paid trip to attend the 2010 National FFA Convention by the SC FFA Foundation to compete in the National FFA Creed Speaking Finals. She will be accompanied to the convention by Clinton High School FFA Advisor Daren Atkins.
“The National FFA Convention, attended by more than 55,000 FFA members all adorned in the traditional blue and gold jacket and representing every state, Puerto Rica and the Virgin Islands, will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 20-23,” reports John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. “The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education,” he added.
