STATE FFA OFFICER TEAM ELECTED AT CLEMSON CONFERENCE

CLEMSON, SC…Katie Simpson, a 2010 graduate of Abbeville High School, was named president of the SC FFA Association during the state conference held at Clemson University, June 9-11. An active member and immediate past president of the Abbeville FFA Chapter, Katie is the daughter of Samantha Vaughn and Tony Simpson of Abbeville. Her FFA advisor is Fred Raines, Agricultural Education instructor at Abbeville High School.

Troy Dobbins, a rising senior at Pendleton High School, was named secretary of the state organization. An active member and officer of the FFA chapter, Troy is the son of Tom and Cathy Dobbins of Townville. His FFA advisors are Blake Berry and Josh Murdock, Agricultural Education instructors at Pendleton High School.

Vice presidents elected include: Holly Benenhaley, a rising senior at Lakewood High School where she is an active member and officer of the FFA chapter. Holly is the daughter of Stacy and Stacey Benenhaley of Sumter. Her FFA advisor is Jillian Lash, Agricultural Education instructor at Lakewood High School. Scott Sherard, a 2010 graduate of Calhoun Falls Charter School where he was an active member and immediate past president of the FFA chapter, is the son of Calvert and Suzie Sherard of Abbeville. His FFA advisor is Carrie Caldwell, Agricultural Education instructor at Calhoun Falls Charter School. Seamus Cassidy, a 2010 graduate of Aiken High School where he was an active member and officer of the FFA chapter, is the son of George and Roe Cassidy of Aiken. His FFA advisor is Meghan M. Wood, Agricultural Education instructor at Aiken High School. Courtney Threatt, a rising senior at McBee High School where she is an active member and officer of the FFA chapter, is the daughter of Scott and Robin Threatt of Jefferson. Her FFA advisor is Pat Earle, Agricultural Education instructor at McBee High School.

The South Carolina FFA Association is an affiliate of the 520,000-member National FFA Organization made up of agricultural education students from more than 7200 chapters located in secondary schools, community colleges and universities in all fifty states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
