WALHALLA FFA CHAPTER TO RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARD

COLUMBIA, SC…The Walhalla High School FFA Chapter will receive the National Two Star Award at a recognition banquet held during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 20-23, 2010, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association. “The Two Star Award is among the top recognition afforded a select number of chapters who compete in the National Awards Program,” Mr. Parris said.

The National Chapter Awards Program, co-sponsored by Ford Motor Company and John Deere as a special project of the National FFA Foundation, recognizes outstanding chapters that implement a Program of Activities designed to provide members an opportunity to excel in individual, organization or community development experiences.

The Walhalla Chapter received the Gold Emblem Award at the state FFA convention at Clemson University this summer which qualified it to compete in the National FFA Chapter Recognition Finals.

Josh McCall, Agricultural Education instructor at Walhalla High School, serves as the local FFA advisor.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
