Lexington Technology Center Agricultural Education students continued their annual tradition of producing and contributing poinsettias to decorate the Governor’s Mansion for the Christmas Season when they presented the plants to Michael Haley on Monday, November 28, 2011.
The poinsettias were grown by the students in the greenhouse facility on the technology center campus as part of their training in plant science and production. Approximately 500 poinsettias are grown in the greenhouse and are sold during the Poinsettia Sale to raise funds for all FFA activities.
The Lexington Agricultural Education students are active in the National FFA Organization which encourages community service activities by its members. The Lexington students have contributed the poinsettias for the last eight years and are proud to have their poinsettias on display during open house at the Governor’s Mansion.
