PENDLETON FFA POULTRY TEAM TAKES TOP STATE HONORS AND
WILL COMPETE IN NATIONAL FINALS

PENDLETON, SC..... Pendleton FFA Poultry Evaluation Team members Emily Jones, Clayton Partain, Noel Van Orden and Casey Nix took first place honors in the recent state competition and will participate in the National Finals in conjunction with the National FFA Convention to be held in Louisville, Kentucky later this year. The top three high scorers in the state event were from the Pendleton team.

Officials with the South Carolina FFA Foundation awarded the team members and their coach, Blake Berry, Agri-Science instructor and FFA advisor at Pendleton, a stipend to assist with their travel expenses to the National FFA Convention.

This is the fourth consecutive year that a Pendleton FFA Poultry team has taken first place honors in the state event under the leadership of Mr. Berry.

The Pendleton High School Agri-Science Department includes Poultry Science in its curriculum because of the importance of the poultry industry to the South Carolina Agricultural economy. Boiler production is the number one agricultural commodity in the state and accounts for more than twenty percent of the total farm income.
