PACE TAKES TOP HONORS IN NATIONAL FARM MANAGEMENT COMPETITION
COLUMBIA, SC…Jerry Pace of Britton’s Neck, SC, a retired agricultural educator from Creek Bridge High School and member of the Britton’s Neck Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter, was named National champion in the Farm Management Knowledge Finals held in conjunction with the recent National Young Farmer Education Institute in Orlando, Florida, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC Young Farmer-Agribusiness Association.
“The national winner is determined by a comprehensive examination on farm management problems and solutions”, Parris said. “Eight major problems related to successful management of a farm are included in the examination along with numerous other questions”, he added.
Among the major areas examined in the competition included the Decision-making Process of Farm Management, Resource Acquisition, Management Tools for Planning and Analysis, Tax Management, Risk Management and Business Management Skills.
Pace, a Clemson University graduate with degrees in Agricultural Education, is widely recognized as an outstanding agricultural educator and expert in farm management. He has also been recognized as the Outstanding Young Farmer and Agribusiness Educational Advisor in the Nation.
The National Farm Management Competition is sponsored by John Deere as a special program of the National Young Farmer Education Association.
