STRICKLAND NAMED NATIONAL WINNER IN AGRICULTURAL ESSAY COMPETITION

COLUMBIA, SC….Kayson Strickland, a senior at Green Sea-Floyds High School and secretary of the FFA chapter, was named National winner in the Agricultural Expressions Essay Competition at the recent National Young Farmer Education Institute in Orlando, Florida, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC Young Farmer-Agribusiness Association.
Kayson’s essay, entitled “What Would Mr. Clemson Think?” focused on his concerns for adequate state government support for the Public Service and Agriculture Programs at Clemson University because of their importance to the future well-being of farming and other agribusiness in South Carolina.
He was awarded an expense-paid trip to the National Young Farmer Education Institute by the SC Young Farmer-Agribusiness Association as state winner in the essay competition.
Kayson is the son of Thad and Donna Strickland of Nichols, SC. His FFA Advisor is Lee Mayfield, Agricultural Education Teacher at Green Sea-Floyds High School.
