AMERSON RECEIVES AGRIBUSINESS AWARD
COLUMBIA, SC… Chris Amerson of Lamar, SC, was recently named recipient of the Outstanding Agribusiness Award for the Pee Dee Region by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for the organization.
Mr. Amerson is manager and head nurseryman at Amerson’s Wholesale Nursery which has been in operation since 1970. In his position of leadership, Mr. Amerson is responsible for overseeing all employees and 30 acres of more than 50 varieties of trees and shrubs. Additionally, he also does all pump and irrigation maintenance and welding.
An active member of the Darlington County Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter, Mr. Amerson has constructed three green houses at the family nursery.
Bert Beasley, Agricultural Education instructor at the Darlington Institute of Technology, serves as advisor to the local chapter.
