STRICKLAND IS STATE WINNER IN SOYBEAN PRODUCTION

COLUMBIA, SC…Kayson Strickland of Nichols was recently recognized by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association as state winner in Non-Irrigated Soybean production. He produced 57.12 bushels per acre using the NK S 80-P2 variety. He received a cash award from the Monsanto Company.

Mr. Strickland was also recognized as the State Runner-Up in peanut production. He produced 4638.50 pounds per acre using the Champs variety. He received a cash award from Birdsong Peanuts.

In the Small Grain category, Mr. Strickland was named State Runner-Up in wheat production using the Pioneer 26R12 variety He received a cash award from the Mixon seed Company.

Mr. Strickland is an active member of the Green Sea-Floyds Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter.

Lee Mayfield, Agricultural Education instructor at the Green Sea-Floyds High School, serves as advisor to the local adult agricultural education organization.
