Russell Miller and Amanda NicholsSALUDA YOUNG FARMER-AGRIBUSINESS CHAPTER RECOGNIZED
COLUMBIA, SC…The Saluda Young Farmer and Agribusiness chapter was recognized as the Outstanding Chapter in the Mid-state Region at a recent conference of agriculturalists held in Myrtle Beach, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for agricultural education in South Carolina.
The chapter, nationally recognized for its sponsorship of the Saluda Truck and Tractor Pull, is affiliated with the National Tractor Pullers Association and draws entries and spectators from throughout the southern states for the annual event. Funds raised provide the chapter an opportunity to award a number of valuable college scholarships to area students.
The chapter also provides their facilities for the Palmetto Antique Tractor show, the Saluda High School Rodeo and the Saluda Cattlemen’s Association Equipment Sale.
In addition to awarding scholarships, the chapter financially supports a number of educational and community organizations and projects during the year.
“Russell Miller was recognized at the conference as the Outstanding Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter president in the state for his superb leadership of the Saluda adult agricultural education organization,” Mr. Parris said.
Amanda Nichols, Agricultural Education Instructor at Saluda High School, serves as the advisor to the local organization.
