Outstanding Chapter Award Plaque.CRESCENT ADULT AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION GROUP
TAKES TOP STATE AWARDSCOLUMBIA, SC…The Crescent High School Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter, Iva, SC, took a number of top awards at a recent conference of agriculturalists held in Charleston, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for the organization.
Jeremy Holtzclaw was recognized as the Outstanding Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter President in South Carolina. He received an engraved plaque and a cash award from the Massey Ferguson Corporation who sponsors the recognition program.
William L. Bowman, Jr., was named the state winner in Beef Cattle Production. He received an engraved plaque and a cash award from Kuhn Farm Equipment Company, sponsor of the recognition program.
Timothy Kelly was recognized as the state winner in the Energy Efficiency competition. He received an engraved plaque and a cash award sponsored by Duke Energy, SCANA Inc., and Pee Dee Electric Cooperative.
Jeff Jones was named the Outstanding Farmer in the Piedmont Region of South Carolina. He was presented an engraved plaque and a cash award from AgSouth Farm Credit. Mr. Jones was also named state runner-up in the Small Grain Awards category, and received an engraved plaque and a cash award from the Mixon Seed Company of Orangeburg who sponsors of the competition.
The Crescent Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter was recognized as the Outstanding Chapter in the Piedmont Region of South Carolina. The chapter received a cash award from Southern States Cooperative, Inc., who sponsors the recognition program in concert with the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association.
Tim Keown and Roger Estridge, Agricultural Education instructors at Crescent High School, serve as professional advisors to the Young Farmer and Agribusiness organization.
“The Crescent Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter is among the outstanding adult agricultural education programs in the nation as evidenced by the comprehensive professional training it offers, the valuable community service activities carried out and the impressive recognition received by its members and advisors,” said John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education in South Carolina.
