DORR RECOGNIZED FOR AGRICULTURAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
COLUMBIA, SC…Maynard Dorr of Gable, SC, a member of the Sumter County Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter, was recently recognized by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association as State Runner-up in the Non-Irrigated Soybean Production competition, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the organization.
Mr. Dorr was presented a cash award by the BASF Corporation as sponsor of the recognition program in concert with the state Young Farmer and Agribusiness group. He produced 51.5 bushels per acre using the Pioneer 97M50 variety.
Additionally, Mr. Dorr was named the Pee Dee Region winner in the Energy Efficiency Recognition Program and presented a cash award by Duke Energy, SCANA, Inc., and the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative.
John Weathers, Agricultural Education instructor at the Sumter County Career Center, serves as professional advisor to the Sumter County Young Farmer and Agribusiness organization.
