COLUMBIA, SC…Reggie Caughman of Sumter, SC, was recently recognized by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association as the State Runner-up in Irrigated Corn production in 2009, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the organization.
Mr. Caughman received a cash award from Pioneer Hybrid International and Monsanto Company for producing 263.738 bushels of corn per acre using the Pioneer 31 P42 variety.
A member of the Lee County Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association, Mr. Caughman is widely recognized as an outstanding farmer in the Pee Dee region.
Beth W. Tolson, Agriculture Education instructor at the Lee County Career and Technology Center, serves as the professional advisor to the local Young Farmer and Agribusiness organization.
