Beth W. Tolson congratulates George Roberts.ROBERTS NAMED OUTSTANDING FARMER IN PEE DEE
COLUMBIA, SC… .Lee County Farmer George E. Roberts of Bishopville, SC, was recently named the Outstanding Farmer in the Pee Dee Region by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the organization.
Mr. Roberts owns and operates Three Meadows Farm which includes Brangus beef cattle and organic hay production. He is in the process of increasing his brood cow herd and considering producing saw grass for the biofuels industry.
The farm is frequently used as a laboratory for Lee County Career and Technology Center Agricultural Education students to study the latest in Animal Science and Business.
A proud FFA alumnus and agricultural leader, Mr. Roberts serves as a member of the Farm Bureau, the Central Cattlemen’s Association, the National Cattlemen’s Association and the National Beef Board. He is an active member of the Lee County Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter.
Mr. Roberts was presented an engraved plaque and a cash award by Karen Baxley, Regional Vice President of AgSouth Farm Credit, who sponsors the recognition program in concert with the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association.
Beth W. Tolson, Agricultural Education instructor at the Technology Center, serves as the professional advisor to the local Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter.
