COLUMBIA, SC….Melvin Crum of Rowesville, SC, a member of the Orangeburg County Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter, was recently awarded first place state honors in Swine Production by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for the organization.
“Mr. Crum received an engraved plaque and a cash award from Orangeburg Foods who sponsors the recognition program in concert with the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association,” Mr. Parris said.
In addition to the Swine Production Award, Mr. Crum received the prestigious Outstanding Service Award presented by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association. He was also named recipient of the Lower State Region Energy Efficiency Award sponsored by Duke Energy, SCANA, Inc., and the Pee Dee Electric Cooperative.
James Ulmer, Agricultural Education instructor at Lake Marion High School, serves as advisor to the Orangeburg Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter.
