Katie McCannon
State Vice President
Katie is from Pendleton, S.C. and is a member of the Pendleton FFA Chapter. She is the daughter of Steve and Nancy McCannon and has one brother, Joey. She also has a horse, B.J., and a cat, Reese.
She enjoys being a member of FFA because it provides her with opportunities to meet people. Her SAE was breeding daylilies and working at Cedar Ridge Farm. She feels that her three most important accomplishments were being inducted into the 2005 All-American Clogging Team, registering two daylilies that she bred with the American Hemerocalis Society, and being elected State FFA Vice-President. Katie wants her lasting contribution to the S.C. FFA Program to be creating a better connection among all FFA members to establish a stonger family.
Katie says that the most valuable lesson that she has learned from her Agriculture teacher, Garrett Howard, is accept responsibility, but to have fun, too.
Her favorite food is Mexican cuisine, but she says "anything edible works." The last movie that she saw was Gods and Generals , but her all-time favorite is A Walk to Remember . If you picked up her iPod, you would find it filled primarily with Christian and country music, but it will also have a little bit of everything. The last book that she read was A Prayer of Owen Meany.
Katie will be a senior at Pendleton High School this year. Upon graduation, she would like to attend Mars Hill College and clog with the Bailey Mountain Cloggers, before pursuing a Masters of Agricultural Education degree at Clemson University.
