Katie Simpson
State President
Katie is from Abbeville, S.C. and is a member and past president of the Abbeville FFA Chapter. She is the daughter of Samantha Vaughn and Tony Simpson and has one sister, Abby. She has eight dogs - 3 chihuahuas, 3 Jack Russells, 1 laborador retriever, and one border collie.
She enjoys being a member of FFA because "people are my passion," and the FFA has given her the confidence and the opportunity to meet "so many amazing people." Her SAE was livestock management. She feels that her proudest moment was being elected her chapter's President last year because she feels it is on the local level that the basis of FFA is founded and is the heart of the organization. She wants her lasting contribution to the S.C. FFA Program to be that she helps others find his/her passion in life and encourages them to be all that they can be.
Katie says that the most valuable lesson that she has learned from her Agriculture teacher, Fred Raines, is to never take anything for granted. She feels blessed to have had an agriculture teacher who supported her and motivated her to become all that she could be.
Her favorite type of food is sushi, in particular spicy tuna rolls. The last movie that she saw was Eclipse , but her favorite movie is Gone With The Wind. If you picked up Katie's iPod, you would find it loaded with anything that allows her to sing and dance in the car. The last book that she read was Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.
Katie plans to attend Anderson University where she will major in communications and public relations.
