Troy Dobbins
State Secretary
Troy is from Townville, S.C. and is a member of the Pendleton FFA Chapter. He is the son of Tom and Kathy Dobbins. He shares his home with a Boston Terrier and two bulldogs.
He enjoys being a member of FFA because of the many opportunities in FFA and the chance to meet so many new people. His SAE was the Dairy Entrepreneurship, working on the family's holstein dairy farm. He feels that his proudest moment was being a member of his chapter's state-winning Nursery/Landscape CDE team. Troy's goal for the S.C. FFA Program is to be a model for its members and officers to follow because he feels that if he has "enriched or touched the life of one, then my life has served its purpose."
Troy says that the most valuable lesson that he has learned from his Agriculture teachers, Josh Murdock and Blake Berry, is that if you work hard you will be successful.
His favorite food is anything home-cooked. The last movie he saw was The Hurt Locker. He says that his favorite films are Lonesome Dove, Ladder 49, and Varsity Blues. The last book that he read was Smoke Jumper. If you picked up his iPod, you would find it filled all the different genres of music.
Troy is a senior at Pendleton High School with future plans to attend the US Military Academy at West Point or the US Naval Academy, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. or to attend Clemson University, majoring in Agricultural Mechanics.
